400 million tons of plastic is being produced a year to meet human need, with around 8 million tons annually entering our oceans from coastal nations, harming wildlife and ecosystems. This plastic is ending up in the stomachs of seabirds, strangling ocean mammals and traces of microplastics being found in 1/3 of the fish we eat in the UK!

MSDUK member and 2018 Innovation Challenge finalist, The Cheeky Panda, is now working towards removing all plastic from tissue packaging by the end of 2020. The range is having a complete wardrobe makeover, starting with The Cheeky Panda toilet roll. There is no need for toilet rolls to be wrapped in plastic packaging. The Cheeky Panda, instead supply bamboo toilet roll in widely recyclable cardboard boxes. 

All future innovations for the company will keep in mind the plastic free goal. The newest invention is the plastic free dry wipe. Totally free from plastic and harsh chemicals, this wipe comes in biodegradable paper packaging with a cardboard core. This product is still able to meet the same quality and needs you would expect from a standard wipe product, but in a much more environmentally friendly manner. These wipes are ultra-sustainable and multi-function, so just this one product can meet a whole realm of different purposes. 

The Cheeky Panda was the winner of the 2019 World Finance Sustainability Awards Programme in the category of ‘Most Sustainable Company in the Tissue Industry’.
