Top 3 Tips for a Successful B2B Sales Pitch for Founders

Is your B2B sales pitch up to scratch? A B2B sales pitch is a presentation designed to persuade your customers, potential partners, or businesses to take their next step with you. Think of it as your verbal business card aimed at making the best first impression.

As consumers, we’re bombarded with sales messages every single day. Eventually, they all begin to look and sound the same. This can lead to your sales pitch becoming lost amongst the crowd. On the MSDUK Accelerator, you’ll have the opportunity to develop a B2B sales pitch with the support of an expert facilitator. However, here are 3 tips you can implement straight away to help improve your sales pitch:

1. Keep It Short.

Shorter is better when it comes to B2B sales pitches. It generates more interest because:

  • Your audience is likely to listen and stay engaged throughout your pitch.
  • You can get your point across faster.

As a founder, you work with your product 24/7 however, don’t assume that your audience will understand your product straight away. Whilst it seems impressive to use big words and elaborate descriptions, this can lose interest very quickly. Use plain language and communicate in a way where your audience understands your product/service the first time they hear it.

During our ‘Marketing’ module, you’ll learn how to make introductions with your network and how to keep audience engaged whilst promoting your business.

2. Make It All About the Customer and Show What Your Product/Service Can Do.

A lot of businesses will claim that their product or service will solve ‘big problems’ such as saving money and time; improving quality of life; or eliminating barriers. But if you can get to the specific problem within these ‘big problems’, you can personalise your pitch to target a market that needs your product.

You need to show your audience how and why they should buy from you or work with you. What benefits are you providing? Most importantly, what solutions are you providing to help overcome these issues?

If possible, demonstrate how your product/service shows the how and why. This can be through a live demonstration or by sharing case studies that support your claims. Demonstrating your product enables the audience to see why your product can benefit them directly.

In our ‘Customer Discovery and Validation’ module, you’ll cover who your customer is and challenges of why they need to have your product/services.

Set a Narrative Around Your Product and Tell a Story.

In most industries, a lot of businesses will have similar products/services. Therefore, it is highly likely that you’ll be using similar marketing techniques which can cause you to get lost in the crowd. However, what makes you stand out as a brand, a business, and an entrepreneur is your story.

Try to highlight your motivation and passion through your pitch. Connecting with your audience on an emotional level will help you differentiate from the crowd.

The Accelerator ‘Sales and Communication’ module will teach you the importance of understanding how to sell your business whilst keeping your audience engaged.

Finally, practice, practice, practice! It’s extremely valuable to get feedback on your pitch from peers. On the MSDUK Accelerator, we created a growing community of ethnic minority founders who support one another in a collaborative environment. On the programme, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to receive feedback from your peers as well as an expert facilitator who’ll be running pitching classes during the programme.

So, if you want to become part of a shared community that motivates one another and get more tips from an expert facilitator, apply to the MSDUK Accelerator programme today.

“Without MSDUK it would probably be a lot harder in terms of business-to-business sales functions because MSDUK gave us access to get our first client, Enterprise Rent-a-Car and from there we were able to snowball.”
