Unleashing Potential: Preparing Our Innovation Challenge Finalists for Grand Finale Pitch Success!

As the excitement builds towards the highly anticipated Innovation Challenge Finals this September, MSDUK recognised the importance of preparing our 12 exceptional Innovation Challenge finalists for their final pitches. To ensure that each entrepreneur is fully equipped to shine brightly at the Finals, we organised an exclusive Pitch Training Workshop, sponsored by Haleon, on Tuesday 17th July 2023. With expert guidance from Kaitlin Fritz, this workshop was designed to arm all finalists with the essential skills and insights to deliver successful pitches, setting the stage for an awe-inspiring showcase of innovation and brilliance.

Kicking off our workshop with a welcome from Haleon

Representing Haleon, Hannah Bell and Bailey McNevin-Duff shared insights into their company, brands, products, and procurement strategy with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) as a fundamental pillar. The emphasis on their 2023 Supplier Diversity Strategic Objectives underscored their commitment to partnering with Ethnic Minority Businesses (EMBs) and developing a Global Supplier Diversity programme. This empowering introduction laid the foundation for the finalists, reinforcing the importance of diversity and inclusion in shaping a dynamic and innovative business world. We would like to thank Haleon for sponsoring and supporting the Pitch Training Workshop and our Innovation Challenge Finalists.

Preparing for what awaits at the Innovation Challenge Finals

With a comprehensive approach, Kamila Rafiqi, the Innovation Challenge Programme Manager, provided detailed information about the Innovation Challenge Finals, highlighting the impressive prizes and benefits awaiting both the overall winner and the winners of each category, which are ‘Digital Transformations, Social Impact, Sustainable Development, and Innovation Pioneers.’ Kamila introduced the 12 innovative entrepreneurs, giving them the opportunity to present their cutting-edge businesses, filling the room with excitement and anticipation. Furthermore, her presentation about the scoring criteria and judging process, the pitching day schedule, the MSDUK 2023 Conference Business and Innovation Shows agenda and the venue, also ensured that all finalists were fully informed and well-prepared for the upcoming finals.

Mastering the Art of Pitching Your Business

The workshop’s highlight was the pitch training delivered by our expert speaker – Kaitlin Fritz. As an award-winning entrepreneur, educator and business mentor, Kaitlin shared invaluable insights and tips for creating a compelling presentation, delivering a successful pitch, and preparing the best for the finals.

The training covered crucial aspects of pitching, including crafting an impactful elevator pitch and pitching tool kit, mastering the art of storytelling in pitching, understanding the components of a compelling business pitch, and leveraging effective body language and presentation slides to captivate the audience. The workshop was not just about theoretical lessons; Kaitlin ensured active engagement through mini-games, practice sessions, and teamwork activities. These interactive sessions allowed our 12 finalists to put their learnings into practice, hone their pitching skills and receive valuable feedback from Kaitlin and their fellow entrepreneurs.

The Pitch Training Workshop provided an excellent networking opportunity for these business founders to connect with one another, Hannah and Bailey from Haleon and MSDUK team members. We extend our gratitude to Haleon for sponsoring the workshop and to the 12 innovative entrepreneurs for their enthusiastic participation. The spotlight awaits our finalist at the MSDUK 2023 Conference Business and Innovation Show on 14th September 2023. Secure your ticket to the conference and let us eagerly anticipate their brilliant pitches and witness the power of innovation and entrepreneurship at its finest!

“Without MSDUK it would probably be a lot harder in terms of business-to-business sales functions because MSDUK gave us access to get our first client, Enterprise Rent-a-Car and from there we were able to snowball.”
