MEMBER NEWS: Gatwick Airport Choses SAVORTEX IOT Hand Dryers for Smarter Washrooms

Gatwick Airport is the second-busiest airport in the UK by passenger traﬃc serving 46m passengers annually. It is also the second biggest single runway Airport in the World. The airport owners have a desire to meet their sustainability targets and introduce new technologies to drive operational eﬃciencies throughout the estate.
Wates Group is one of the largest family owned construction, property services and development companies in the United Kingdom and provides facilities management services to Gatwick Airport. In partnership with SAVORTEX, it deployed SAVORTEX’s IOT (internet of things) connected, EcoCurve 550D Smart, data reporting hand dryer on a trial basis in the washrooms in the South Terminal where there is high footfall.
The Smart dryer uses its revolutionary patented in-built sensor technology to wirelessly report energy used and usage data per dry to the web, alerting cleaners to washroom inspections based on actual footfall (That’s Smart!), and allowing estates managers to remotely manage washroom facilities, for improved hygiene and resource efficiency
The data intelligence gathered maps trends and identifies hidden risks such as cost and waste in washroom facilities which allows for collaboration and cross-functional continuous conversations between stakeholders.

The trial was an overwhelming success. The demonstrated savings and operational eﬃciencies resulted in the client specifying the dryer into Gatwick Airport and a planned roll-out throughout both the North and South Terminals.
