Standardised Procedures

The MSDUK’s Certification Policy and Procedures Manual
provide guidance for the certification of ethnic minority-owned
businesses. Standardized procedures assure consistent and
identical review and certification of EMBs.

MSDUK's rigorous certification process enables ethnic minority businesses in our Network which are at least 51% ethnic minority-owned, operated and controlled to be officially certified. A combination of screenings, interviews and site visits establishes eligibility. This feature distinguishes MSDUK from other organizations or entities that publish directories which allow "self-certification" as their standard.

Certified EMBs are listed in the MSDUK national database called the Minority Business Resource (MBR) to which all national
corporate members have direct access. On-line database computer access allows an EMB the opportunity to efficiently market its products or services nationwide and internationally.

Stringent certification standards also identify bona fide EMBs, helping buying organizations' to monitor and report
expenditures as well as supplier utilisation rates. These are measures of performance and progress in evaluating a minority
supplier development program.
